Fred Hartsook was a famous American photographer who in his day owned the largest photographic business in the world. His clients included Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, Mary Pickford, and sitting President Woodrow Wilson. He purchased the Hartsook Inn in Humboldt County after honeymooning there with his wife Bess Hesby who was 'Miss Liberty' in the Panama-Pacific Intl. Exposition on 1915. He turned the lodge and cabins into a first class resort with many celebrity clients...among them Mary Pickford and Bing Crosby. Although the original Inn burned down in 1927, it was rebuilt and run by Bess until 1938...long after Fred had pass away. This amazing property with over 50 cabins, two maintenance barns, and the grand lodge awaits it's next owners to restore it to its' former glory.
