REALTOR’S “TOYS FOR KIDS” DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS

Eureka, Ca….Nearly 3,500 deserving Humboldt County children will receive a
present Christmas morning thanks to the continuing efforts of the 20th Annual
“TOYS FOR KIDS” campaign sponsored by the Humboldt Association of
REALTORS.

Michelle Voyles, 2013 Humboldt Association of REALTORS President,
announced that donations by businesses and individuals helped the Association reach
a goal of $28,000.00 making it possible for the local purchase and collection of toys,

Humboldt Real Estate
The number of closed sales in Humboldt County for 2012 were at a high not seen since 2006. Although the market experience a small drop in home prices the free fall appears to have ended. The expectation for 2013 is that appreciation will likely be flat which is good news compared to the previous years’ drops.

Market Trends Looking Up
Humboldt: For the first time in 5 years the total number of homes sold in Humboldt will reach 1000.

LOS ANGELES (Nov. 21) – California pending home sales rose both from the previous month and year in October for the first time in seven months, while the share of equity sales grew slightly, marking a four-year high, the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) reported today.

    New California Short Sale Law
    New short sale law in California



    Under a new state law, any lender who agrees to a short sale, which by definition will yield insufficient funds to cover the outstanding loans on a property, must accept it as payment in full for all loan balances.     Lender Rule Changes
    The April 1st deadline is fast approaching for mortgage changes being passed down to us from the government. Some anticipated changes are increases in down payments, increases in fees, appraisal changes and more. The net result although not certain is going to be an increase in red tape. This undoubtedly will changes for our own good yet lacking the true good we as consumers are looking for in this post banking melt down world.

    Home Buyer Activity Up In Humboldt
    New contracts for homes are up in January 2011 over January 2010. This comes with no buyer incentive in place currently compared to a tax credit in place same time last year.     Eureka Waterfront Plaza Opens

    Today the city of Eureka officially cut the ribbon to open the C Street plaza on the boardwalk. This plaza will be the center of future and existing developments on Humboldt Bay such as the fishermen docks and fish house and carriage building and the gateway out of old town Eureka to the future balloon track development that will be a revitalized rail yard with stores, residences and restaurants plus approximately 14 acres of trails and a wetland park.
