Located in the region of mild Mediterranean climate dominated by wet, cold winters and dot, dry summers, Yuba City was home to the Maidu people until 1800s. But in the beginning of 1800s Yuba City saw the Maidu people encountered by the Mexicans and Spanish. The ‘Gold Rush’ in 1848 saw small establishments along the Yuba River. Yuba City got its first county seat in 1856. This region is also called as ‘Feather River Valley’.

Yuba City is home to many employment opportunities with many local and global companies. The city enjoys a steady economy which has been free from recession.

The primary education is provided by public schools which are a part of the Yuba City Unified School district. There are three high schools that cater to the teenage education. Yuba Community College takes up the responsibility of graduate education.

Appeal-Democrat is the local newspaper of Yuba City. The Sacramento bee is also widely acknowledged. In the field of politics, Yuba City is also a Senate district.

A showplace established in 1975 treasures many memories and riches from the past. This is the Community Memorial Museum. The artifacts of attraction in this museum are the Maidu articles belonging to the settlers of the ‘Great Gold Rush’ period.

The mild weather prepares the soil with abundance of water. This is ideal for rose bushes to bloom. The rose bushes of various colors cover the city with a floral blanket. The other crops near the central valley include peaches, plums, almonds, pears, walnuts and grapes.

An annual event at Yuba City is the Sikh Parade by the largest Sikh population in the United States. This parade is carried out by the Sikh population in Yuba City in order to commemorate the receipt of their Holy Scripture, The Guru Granth Sahib on the first Sunday of November every year. This parade is attended by Sikhs from all over the world.

• Christmas Stroll on December 4th at Plumas Street Shopping District between 5 and 9 pm.
• Christmas Sports Extravaganza on 16th December at Cinemark Yuba Club at 8 pm.
• A comedy show with Lynn Ruth Miller on 18th December at Nu Generations Lounge at 9pm
• A 14-week small business training program starting 2nd February 2010 at YCCD Small Business Development Center between 6 and 9 pm.
• Letterosis Personalized Photo Art on Saturday, December 12th between 10am and 2pm at The Place! Gallery.
