Located in the region of mild Mediterranean climate dominated by wet, cold winters and dot, dry summers, Yuba City was home to the Maidu people until 1800s. But in the beginning of 1800s Yuba City saw the Maidu people encountered by the Mexicans and Spanish. The ‘Gold Rush’ in 1848 saw small establishments along the Yuba River. Yuba City got its first county seat in 1856. This region is also called as ‘Feather River Valley’.

Today marks the beginning of the Volunteers of America annual turkey drive, an all-out effort to get enough of the big birds for Sacramento’s needy.

In days when stretching a dollar is not simply a fun challenge but more a necessity, finding dual uses for everyday items can really help save money! Here are some simple (and we admit it, kind of fun) ideas for putting common toiletries to use for more than one purpose!

Toothpaste:

-Polishing scuffed shoes – rub toothpaste into the shoe and wipe off with a damp cloth.
-Crayon on walls – put a dab of white toothpaste on a damp rag and gently wipe the crayon marks away. Don’t forget to rinse.

Every Year At This Time The Hills Come Alive

Every year at this time, there is a special place along Highway 50, in an area cradled in the arms of the Sierra Foothills that comes alive.

In Autumn when the fruit comes into harvest, and the cider is pressed, Apple Hill provides delight for all.

Originally, Apple Hill was a collection of approximately 16 ranches or orchards. Today it boasts more than 50 ranches including Christmas tree growers, wineries, a micro-brewery, Spa, vineyards, and pumpkin patches.
